The Pentecostal ceremony - custom of the annual cycle
In the past an ancient girl's ceremonial custom Little Queens was widespread throughout Moravia and Bohemia. It was also maintained in Velka Bites. It is one of the three spring carol customs and rites, that are associated with the agricultural year. The Little Queens (Královničky) are also called královinky, králověnky, králůvky, králky, grálky. All these names hide originally a pagan customs associated with a welcome of spring, the worship of the sun, the rejuvenation of nature and water. The celebration has a magical prosperity function promising the growth of vegetation, pastures, cattle and enough healthy and clean water. This custom also performs initiating role as the oldest girls from the group are introduced into the adult society. The custom fell asleep in the 19th century.
